A Few of My Favoite Things {Hair Accessories}

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Hair accessories are all the rage these days, which has me thinking about what I'm going to put in my hair once the veil comes off at the reception. I've found the options to be almost overwhelming! In some ways Etsy makes my life easier and in some ways it makes my life so much harder! I've been sorting through some of my favorites and I'd love to share them with you.

There are flower clips:

There are feather clips (think Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City movie):

There are rhinestone/crystal/pearl embellished combs:

And there are headbands (as seen on Taylor Swift):

I especially love double and triple headbands!

How in the world am I going to choose? Any favorites?

For you girls who like to DIY, check out my cousin Michelle's blog (The Real Life Mom) to see the hair accessory she made to wear on New Year's Eve. It cost her $1.50 and she wore it well, don't you think!?!?

Or, if you're looking to make one of the flowers on your own (to wear in your hair or use as a pin), check out my friend Jenny's blog (Jenny Bevlin) to find out how!!!

They make it look so easy!!! I haven't had the nerve to try it yet :)

So tell me, how will you be accessorizing your hair on your big day?

My Hair Story

Friday, November 12, 2010

My hair is getting long and I never thought I'd say this but it's a little TOO long! You see, years ago I decided to dye my hair black. Yes, black. Here are some pictures to prove it.

It's okay, you can say it..."WHAT WAS SHE THINKING????" Well, I can't answer that question but I can tell you that it didn't take long for me to want my (also dyed) light brown hair with blond highlights back. So to get to the point I was trying to make earlier, I ended up chopping my long hair to shoulder length in order to cut the black out and I vowed that I would NEVER cut my hair again (just a trim every 6 weeks). I then started the grueling process of growing it out, which took years.

Now, I am getting married and it's time for me to think about how I want my hair to look on my wedding day. I saw a picture of me that was taken last weekend my initial reaction was that my hair was too long. It's time for a cut! I have finally decided on the length and style I want my hair to be on August 13, 2011. Half up, half down, smooth curls, and not too long! What do you think?

How did you prepare your hair for your wedding day?
